PANORAMA

North Tustin, CA

A growing family purchased this 1936 Spanish estate with the intention of honoring its architectural heritage while thoughtfully adapting it for modern living. Original elements including richly detailed wood ceiling moldings, leaded glass doors, and a dramatic stone archway served as both foundation and inspiration for the design direction. Custom double doors, designed as part of the nursery renovation, were introduced to feel fully integrated with the home’s existing architecture, reinforcing the sense that the space had always belonged to the house.

The nursery and connecting bathroom was conceived as a quiet, regal retreat, drawing from the home’s historic character rather than introducing overt theme. Deep, saturated walls and a coffered wood ceiling create a sense of intimacy and enclosure, balanced by warm lighting, turned wood furnishings, and layered textiles that lend softness and permanence. The result is a space fit for a prince that feels timeless and grounded, designed to evolve alongside the family.

In the primary bathroom, the approach focused on preservation and refinement. The home’s original 1930s tilework was carefully maintained, with new elements introduced in a restrained palette that allows the historic detailing to remain the focal point. The vanity, classic plumbing fixtures, and period-inspired lighting introduce functionality and refinement while remaining consistent with the home’s architectural language, preserving the craftsmanship and spirit of the original design.
